Gerard Bertrand La Forge : A tribute to Gérard Bertrand’s father, who loved this plot of old Carignan vines, some of which are over 100 years old. The name “Forge” comes from the land registry, where all the elements necessary for forging are found: wood for the fire and water to cool the metal.
Dark ripe cherry colour.
On the nose, fragrances of wild strawberries, liquorice and cloves blossom.
The attack reveals a total balance between fruit and spices. A touch of salinity prolongs the acidity in the mouth and suggests an immense ageing potential. Total coherence and richness on the finish, where all the aromatic nuances of cherries (fruit, tart, jam, stone) stand out on a horizon of cocoa, grilled almonds and gingerbread.
